Pick the right tool once, instead of paying for three.

An independent guide to the tools people use to build funnels, email lists, online courses and automations. We compare them on the same criteria, name what each one does badly, and tell you exactly which ones pay us — and which ones don't.

There is no ease-of-use column. We only rate a tool once we've set it up and built something real in it, per our published method — and a column reading “not yet rated” on every row would be noise dressed up as honesty. It goes in when the testing is done, and not before.

Prices are in US dollars as charged by the providers, on annual billing where a discount applies — monthly costs more. n8n is the exception: it is a German company and prices its cloud in euros, shown as €. Teachable and Thinkific both restructured recently and reliable sources disagree, so those two show ranges and should be confirmed on the vendor's own pricing page. If you're billed in another currency, expect your bank's conversion rate on top.

Vendor pricing pages are checked on a rolling basis, not all on one date — each review page states the date its own figures were last confirmed, and some are more recent than others. Pricing changes without notice — confirm before you buy. Systeme.io, Make, GetResponse and Pabbly Connect pay us a commission. Every other tool in this table pays us nothing, and each card says which is which.

By job

Which one for which job

These aren't “best of” awards — we don't hand those out for tools we haven't used. It's a map of which tool fits which situation.

Starting with no budget

Systeme.io

The only permanent free tier among the all-in-one platforms we cover, and it handles a page, a list and a checkout — the three things you actually need first. This one pays us a commission.

Managing other people's marketing

GoHighLevel

Sub-accounts and white labelling are the reason agencies use it. Budget for the usage fees on top of the plan price. GoHighLevel pays us nothing — though the review this links to sends solo operators to Systeme.io instead, and that one does pay us. It says so at each point.

What it really costs →

Torn between those two

Read the head-to-head

They're built for different people, so the decision is faster than you'd think. A situation at a time, with a straight answer for each.

Systeme.io vs GoHighLevel →

Building a list before you sell

Kit

10,000 free subscribers is an enormous runway. Just know the free plan can't automate — you'll pay the day you want an email to send itself. Pays us nothing, and we'd still start here.

Selling through webinars

GetResponse

Native webinar hosting alongside the email list, which otherwise means a second subscription. Price climbs steeply as the list grows — check it at the size you expect. This one pays us a commission.

A big list, cheaply

Moosend

Worth pricing up once your list is large enough that per-contact cost is the deciding factor. Pays us nothing.

Selling a course, at volume

Thinkific

0% platform fees on every plan. Past roughly $130 a month in sales that structure beats a cheaper plan that takes a cut. Pays us nothing.

Automating without a subscription

Pabbly Connect

A one-time lifetime licence, which nothing else here offers. Fine for convenience automation, risky for anything load-bearing — its own review says so. This one pays us a commission.

What the lifetime deal really buys →

Long or complex workflows

n8n

Charges per whole workflow run, so a hundred-step automation costs the same as a five-step one. Free if you self-host — free in licence, not in effort, since provisioning, updates and backups become yours. Pays us nothing, and it undercuts the automation tools that do.

Keeping existing tools in sync

Make

The answer when the problem isn't a missing tool but tools that don't talk to each other. Watch the credit burn on frequent triggers. This one pays us a commission.

Two minutes comparing beats two months migrating.

Switching platforms later means rebuilding pages, re-importing contacts and re-testing every automation. Pick on the job you're doing, not the feature list.

Guide

What software do you actually need to start?

Less than most sites will tell you. Add tools in this order, and only when the previous one is doing its job.

01

Somewhere to send people

One page that explains the offer and has a single action on it. A full website can wait; a single page cannot.

02

A way to collect contacts

A form and a list you own. Social followers are rented; an email list moves with you.

03

A way to take money

A checkout or payment link. Until money can change hands, everything else is preparation.

04

A way to follow up

A short automatic email sequence. Most sales happen after the first visit, not during it.

05

Only then: automation between tools

Zapier, Make, Pabbly and n8n earn their cost once you have several tools that need to stay in sync. Before that, they solve a problem you don't have yet — and Make and Pabbly Connect both pay us, so treat this step as the one to delay longest.

An all-in-one platform covers steps 1–4 in one subscription, which is why it's often the cheapest honest starting point. Specialist tools make more sense once one of those jobs becomes the main job.

Stay current

Pricing changes. We'll tell you when.

A short monthly note: what changed in the tools we cover, what we re-tested, and what we'd choose differently now.

Questions people ask

How does The Intelligence Vault make money?
Through affiliate commissions. When you sign up to some of the software we cover using a link on this site, the provider pays us a referral fee out of their marketing budget. Right now that applies to Systeme.io, Make, GetResponse and Pabbly Connect. Every other tool on this page pays us nothing, and every card says which is which.
Why review Zapier if it can never pay you?
Because leaving out the category leader would make our automation comparisons useless. Zapier's partner program is gated behind a certification process aimed at implementation consultancies, not publishers — so we can't join it, and that page can never earn us anything whatever we write. It sits in the same category as Make and Pabbly Connect, which both do pay us. We'd rather show you both facts than quietly omit the biggest tool in the category.
Why is “ease of use” missing from the comparison?
Because we haven't finished testing these tools to the standard our method describes — setting up an account and building something real in each. We used to show a column of “not yet rated” cells, which across every tool was noise rather than honesty. The column comes back when the testing is done.
What is the free Systeme.io Quick Start Kit?
Six parts we wrote ourselves: what to build first, five funnel structures, a five-email welcome sequence, a sales page checklist, a Systeme.io setup checklist and a seven-day action plan. It's free, it needs no email address, and it's not gated behind anything — read it on our Systeme.io page or go straight to it. It's produced by us, not by Systeme.io.
Does using an affiliate link cost me more?
No. The price is set by the software provider and is the same whether you arrive through us or type the address in yourself.
Why do some tools show a price range instead of a price?
Teachable and Thinkific both restructured their pricing recently, and the figures reported by third-party sites genuinely disagree with each other — partly because the changes are recent, partly because several of those sites sell competing platforms. We'd rather show a range and tell you to check than print a number we can't stand behind. What we do state confidently is the fee structure, which is well corroborated and matters more than the tier price anyway.
What currency are the prices in?
US dollars, which is how these providers charge — with one exception: n8n is a German company and prices its cloud in euros. Figures shown are annual-billing rates where a discount applies; monthly billing costs more. If your card is in another currency you'll pay your bank's conversion rate on top, and some providers vary their rates by region. Always check the price you're actually shown at signup.
Are your recommendations independent?
We apply the same criteria to every tool. But be appropriately sceptical, and be most sceptical about automation: Systeme.io, Make, GetResponse and Pabbly Connect pay us and the rest don't, which puts more of our commercial interest in the automation category than anywhere else. That's a real incentive worth knowing about. It's why every card names what the tool is bad at, why tools that pay us nothing are listed anyway, why the email section says outright that Kit's free plan beats the one we're paid on, why our n8n review argues against Make on cost, and why we review one tool that structurally can never pay us.
Do prices and features change?
Constantly, and more than most sites admit. In the period we've been tracking these tools: Kit raised its entry plan from around $15 to $39, Kajabi raised prices and cut its entry contact allowance from 10,000 to 2,500, Teachable and Thinkific both removed their free plans, and Make renamed its billing unit from operations to credits. Everything price-related here carries a checked date. Confirm current terms on the provider's own site before you sign up.
Can I use several of these together?
Yes, and most established businesses do — that's precisely what the automation tools are for. The cost is integration work and a second subscription. That overhead is the main argument for an all-in-one early on.
Do I need all of these tools?
Almost certainly not. They're listed because different businesses have different bottlenecks, not because you need one of each. Buy the tool that removes your current bottleneck, then stop.
How do affiliate links work?
When you click one, the provider records that you arrived from us, usually with a cookie. If you later sign up, they attribute the referral to us and pay a commission. It doesn't change your price, and it doesn't give us access to your account or your details.

Affiliate disclosure

The Intelligence Vault is an independent website. Some of the links on this site are affiliate links, which means that if you register for or purchase a product after clicking one, the provider may pay us a commission. This never changes the price you pay.

We have an affiliate relationship with these tools on this page: Systeme.io, Make, GetResponse and Pabbly Connect. Every other tool listed here earns us nothing, and each card says so on its face. If that changes, we update the marking before we update anything else.

Make and Pabbly Connect are both automation tools, so that category carries more of our commercial interest than any other part of this site. We'd rather point that out than let you find it. The automation tools that pay us nothing — n8n and Zapier — are reviewed to the same standard, and our n8n review makes the strongest cost argument on this site against one of the tools we're paid on.

In Zapier's case it can't change: their partner program is closed to publishers, so that review can never earn us anything however it is written. We cover it because omitting the category leader would make our comparisons dishonest.

We are not employed by, an agent of, or an official representative of any software company we write about. An affiliate relationship is a referral arrangement only — we are paid a commission for sending a customer, we have no say in the product, and we get no access to your account. Pricing, features and plan limits are set by the providers and can change at any time — always confirm current terms on the provider's own website before you buy.

Nothing on this site is a guarantee of results, income or business outcomes. What you get out of any tool depends on your offer, your market and your own work.
